Cuida Tu Salud: Advances in Colorectal Cancer Treatment

For some years now, scientific research has been aimed at giving years of life to people with stage four colorectal cancer, when everything else, i.e. treatments, have failed. With novel therapies such as the systemic therapy of which PanOncology of the Oncology Hospital has already initiated clinical trials in patients who previously had no life expectancy.
Both colon and rectal cancer are two of the most common cancers in both men and women in Puerto Rico.
It is said that among the risk factors are environmental, genetic, diet, obesity, sedentary lifestyle, and the lack of physical activity increases the risk of developing it twice. In the United States it is the second cause of death by cancer.
