ON WHEELS

Concept:

"Oncologic On Wheels is a cutting-edge project that goes hand in hand with changes in the healthcare industry. It is the first to be organised under the coordination of the LPCC and the resources of the Oncology Hospital. We intend that through the Prevention Health Clinics, we will be able to attend to the needs according to each type of cancer in a given village. This data facilitates the plan to be followed, in terms of prevention, tests and topics of interest to be dealt with that impact each region.

This concept allows us to mobilise the services offered by our hospital, based on the premise that the Oncology Hospital goes to your community, to your environment, facilitating access to diagnostic tests and early screening.

Objective:

With the health clinics and alliances established as a hospital, we will be able to create awareness that the priority is prevention and early diagnosis of cancer, thus reducing the incidence and mortality rate and promoting quality of life in Puerto Rico.

Approach:

The clinics are planned and coordinated jointly with the municipality, relevant public and private agencies and, above all, with community organisations.

So far we have held 8 clinics around the island: Orocovis, Villalba, Santa Isabel, Maunabo, Barranquitas and 3 in Vieques. With this programme, Oncológico Sobre Ruedas, maintains above all the message of prevention, thus fulfilling the mission established since its inception by Dr. Isaac González Martínez.
