1952: Joint Commission (Joint Commission on Accreditation of Hospitals) founded in 1951, accredited the Oncology Hospital of the Puerto Rican League Against Cancer.

January 1952: The American College of Surgeons, founded in 1922, officially notified the professional, technical and academic accreditation to the Oncology Hospital of the Liga Puertorriqueña Contra el Cáncer, today Dr. Isaac González Martínez Oncology Hospital.

1952: The Commission on Cancer, an integral part of the American College of Surgeons, is composed of a consortium of professional organizations dedicated to improving the quality of services offered to cancer patients through the implementation of a standards-based prevention, research, education and quality of care monitoring system.
